Covid-19

IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE NOTICE FOR OUR EQUINE CLIENTS REGARDING CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

EFFECTIVE FROM 4TH NOVEMBER 2020

IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE NOTICE (EFFECTIVE FROM 5th NOVEMBER 2020) FOR OUR EQUINE CLIENTS REGARDING CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

In line with new government guidelines, BEVA (The British Equine Veterinary Association) have recently updated their guidance:

You Must:

· Continue to act in Covid-safe ways at all times

You Should:

· Minimise contact with others (clients and co-workers)

· Minimise travel so far as is possible

· Risk assess procedures both in the hospital and on clients’ premises

· Exercise professional judgement as to what it is appropriate to defer

You Can:

· Carry out ambulatory work

· Carry out hospital work

· Carry out work in support of equestrian business and trade

This is in line with the government’s position that Veterinary Practices are to remain open as they are an essential business.

WE HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS GUIDANCE and WILL CONSIDER ALL EQUINE PROCEDURES (Including vaccinations which are due) DURING THIS LOCKDOWN PERIOD.

HOWEVER, please read the following guidance so that we can offer this level of service without increasing risks to our staff or clients:

• We will risk assess every visit and procedure

• We will not increase the risks of disease transmission or the risk of injury to our vets and nurses. We will mitigate these risks through various means

• WE WILL CONTINUE TO PERFORM ROUTINE DENTAL EXAMINATIONS AND TREATMENT BUT these will only be performed with a nurse in attendance to hold the horse for the vet – this is for our mutual protection, since we deem it unsafe to perform a dental on a horse which is not restrained, but deem social distancing impossible when a client is holding a horse for a dental procedure

• We will continue to carry out contactless handovers for all cases seen at the practice premises AND on some busy yard visits

• We may utilise yard or area visits to minimise journeys and travel time for our staff in line with the government guidance

• Under certain circumstances our team may contact you prior to a visit to discuss social distancing measures

• ONLY 1 PERSON PER HORSE WHEN WE VISIT PLEASE

• IF YOU OR A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY HAVE HAD SYMPTOMS OF CORONA VIRUS IN THE LAST 14 DAYS PLEASE MAKE US AWARE IMMEDIATELY AND BEFORE WE VISIT

We would again like to thank all our wonderful clients who have, without exception, been incredibly respectful to our team during this unprecedented year and have shown great understanding. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN AMAZING AND WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. We will be doing our very best to keep ourselves and our families safe and we are grateful to our clients who will help us to safely carry out our work. Please continue to be patient with us if our phone lines become busy

EFFECTIVE FROM 20th MAY 2020

In line with new government guidelines, BEVA (The British Equine Veterinary Association) have recently updated their guidance.

BEVA's current advice is that no equine veterinary procedure is automatically "off limits".

WE HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW THIS GUIDANCE and WILL NOW CONSIDER ALL EQUINE PROCEDURES.

Please read the following guidance so that we can offer this level of service without increasing risks to our staff or clients:

  • We will risk assess every visit and procedure

  • We will not increase the risks of disease transmission or the risk of injury to our vets and nurses. We will mitigate these risks through various means

  • WE WILL NOW PERFORM ROUTINE DENTAL EXAMINATIONS AND TREATMENT BUT these will only be performed with a nurse in attendance to hold the horse for the vet – this is for our mutual protection, since we deem it unsafe to perform a dental in a horse which is not restrained, but deem social distancing impossible when a client is holding a horse for a dental procedure

  • Where cases can be seen and treated via telemedicine, they will be.

  • We will continue to carry out contactless handovers for all cases seen at the practice premises

We would again like to thank all our wonderful clients who have, without exception, been incredibly respectful to our team during this challenging period and have shown great understanding. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN AMAZING AND WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. We will be doing our very best to keep ourselves and our families safe as lockdown measures ease and we are grateful to our clients who will help us to safely carry out our work. Please continue to be patient with us if our phone lines become busy as some staff are working remotely from home.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO MAKE OTHER CLIENTS AWARE OF OUR NEW PROTOCOL.

HUMAN HEALTH MUST STILL COME FIRST. WE HAVE PROTOCOLS IN PLACE TO PROTECT THIS WHILST MEETING THE NEEDS OF OUR CLIENTS AND THEIR HORSES. TO REITERATE, WE WILL NOW CONSIDER ALL PROCEDURES AND WILL CARRY THEM OUT WHERE WE ARE SATISFIED WE CAN MITIGATE THE RISKS.
