The Elderly Horse

The demographics of our equine population are changing, with increasing numbers of people keeping more elderly horses, and geriatric equine medicine presents its own challenges.  In many cases there are underlying disease processes that present subtly and can easily be assumed to be ‘just old age’. However, with a careful clinical evaluation (eg at the time of their annual vaccination), underlying health problems can be detected. We have many examples of elderly horses being rejuvenated by the successful treatment of underlying health issues. Contact any of the team to chat about your OAP!
